Birth of three new categories of information in the news

Pharmacoepidemiology - Pharmacovigilance: to meet the need of a new class of professionals who have joined the network, and specialized in epidemiological surveillance after marketing authorization for medical products

Training and promotion of epidemiology:  for students undergoing training in public health and for people who want to continue learning throughout their careers.

Emerging themes in epidemiology: to convey the debates that aim to promote discussion on the practical and theoretical epidemiology.

- Drinking-water quality- WHO manual / WORLD - The quality of drinking water raises concerns for human health in developed and developing countries around the world. The health risks are associated with the presence of infectious agents, toxic chemicals or to radiological risks. Association between non steroidal anti inflammatory agents and gastrointestinal bleeding or peptic ulcer

An epidemiological study conducted on a cohort of European patients showed a reduction of gastrointestinal complications due to anti-inflammatory thanks to gastric protectors. The anti-inflammatory drugs increase the risk of serious complications of the digestive system, i.e, bleeding and ulcers.

Hardcore smokers are defined as those smokers that (1) are daily smokers, (2) have a smoking history of at least six years, (3) have never tried to quit, (4) don't want to quit smoking, (5) smoke at least 11 cigarettes, on average, each day and (6) are 26 years or older .*

- Exposure measures of dust chemicals of Carpet - There is increasing interest in using chemicals measured in carpet dust as indicators of chemical exposures. However, investigators have rarely sampled dust repeatedly from the same households and therefore little is known about the variability of chemical levels that exist within and between households in dust samples. Attenuation bias should be relatively modest when using these semi-volatile carpet-dust chemicals as exposure surrogates in epidemiologic studies.*
